WHAT IS THE TEST?

The acronym FOB (fecal occult blood) indicates a hidden presence of blood in the stool that is not clearly visible to the naked eye. This can highlight different types of gastrointestinal disorders, such as polyps, ulcers, colitis, hemorrhoids, diverticula, and colorectal cancer. The signs of these lesions are usually silent in the early stages, so the search for occult blood in the stool is an important screening test, which allows the presence of pathologies in the gastrointestinal system to be identified at an early stage.

WHO IS THE TEST FOR?

The Intestinal FOB Test is especially indicated for all people over 45 years of age, both men and women, who are recommended to perform it regularly at least once a year.

HOW DOES THE TEST WORK?

The FOB Test is an immunochromatographic test that, thanks to specific antibodies, is capable of detecting the presence of blood in a stool sample. The use of these specific monoclonal antibodies means that the Bowel-FOB test does not require any particular dietary restrictions before being performed.

WHEN SHOULD I TAKE THE TEST?

Checking the presence of hidden blood in the stool is useful to monitor your health and carry out adequate prevention. In addition, practical stools are provided to make sample collection more practical and simple.
