NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION
Femibion® 1 Planning and early pregnancy provides you with the following nutrients:
- FOLIC ACID: This is a B vitamin that is converted into folate in the body to become biologically active. The human body needs folate as it contributes to the normal formation of blood cells, the process of cell division and the growth of maternal tissues during pregnancy. At the beginning of pregnancy, between days 22 and 28 after conception, folate plays an important role in the closure of the neural tube of the fetus, as a low amount of maternal folate is a risk factor for neural tube defects in the developing fetus. Supplemental intake of folic acid increases maternal folate levels. Therefore, it is recommended that women take 400 µg of supplemental folic acid per day for a period of at least one month before conception and up to three months afterwards. There are many risk factors for the development of neural tube defects. Altering a single factor may or may not have a beneficial effect. Folate also contributes to the growth of maternal tissue during pregnancy.
- METAFOLIN®: This is an “active form” of folate, which is directly available in your body and does not need to be transformed. Metafolin® is a registered trademark of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany.
- CHOLINE: Contributes to the normal metabolism of homocysteine, which is important for several stages of life, including pregnancy. Choline requirements are higher during pregnancy.
- VITAMIN D3: Contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system and the process of cell division.
- IODINE: Contributes to the normal production of thyroid hormones and normal thyroid function.
- VITAMIN B1, VITAMIN B2 and BIOTIN: Contribute to normal energy-yielding metabolism and the normal functioning of the nervous system.
- VITAMIN B6, VITAMIN B12, NIACIN and PANTOTHENIC ACID: Help reduce tiredness and fatigue.
- VITAMIN C AND SELENIUM: Contribute to the normal functioning of the immune system.
- VITAMIN E: Contributes to the protection of cells against oxidative damage.
- IRON: Contributes to the normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin and helps reduce the risk of tiredness and fatigue.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
By week 13, the baby's vital organs are already formed and an incredible growth phase begins. For this reason, we recommend that you switch to Femibion® 2 for the second and third trimester (weeks 13-40). After giving birth, you can choose to breastfeed your baby. At this time, we recommend that you switch to Femibion® 3 Breastfeeding. "Femibion® 2 and Femibion® 3 provide carefully selected nutrients, including docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), an omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid that plays a structural and functional role in the retina and brain. Maternal intake of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) contributes to the normal development of the brain and eyes of the fetus and breastfed infant. The beneficial effects are obtained with a daily intake of 200 mg of DHA, in addition to the recommended daily intake of 250 mg of omega-3 fatty acids for adults (DHA + EPA).
