WHAT ARE MENOPAUSE AND FSH?
Menopause is a physiological event that corresponds to the end of the female reproductive age. It's a fairly slow change, which can start around age 45, but its symptoms are constant by age 55. The most frequent symptoms are: hot flashes, increased sweating, sleep disorders and palpitations. Menopause is also associated with depletion of ovarian follicles and an increase in the level of circulating FSH. During the fertile age, this hormone induces the maturation of the follicle and the secretion of the Lh hormone, responsible for ovulation. When a woman begins menopause, FSH continues to be produced and its concentration remains high because the ovulatory phase is no longer reached and negative feedback on FSH production is no longer exerted. This is the reason that the FSH concentration is monitored during a presumed onset of this condition.
WHO USES THE TEST? , increased sweating, sleep disorders and palpitations.
HOW DOES THE TEST WORK?
The test checks the concentration of FSH levels in the urine, a hormone that is present in greater amounts during the menopausal period. Fast and safe results in just 5 minutes. The menopause test is an immunochromatographic assay that detects FSH through special gold-conjugated monoclonal antibodies included in the test strip.
WHEN SHOULD I DO THE TEST?
You can test at any time of day, but first morning urine contains a higher concentration of FSH, so you may get better results.
WHAT DOES THE TEST CONTAIN?
- instructions for use
- 2 sealed aluminum bags containing:
- 1 test device
- 1 desiccant sachet
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:
- MENOPAUSE FSH TEST is an immunochromatographic device that detects the FSH hormone in the urine thanks to special gold-conjugated monoclonal antibodies incorporated into the test strip.
- Specificity 86.9%
- Sensitivity 100%
- Precision 94%
PROCEDURE FOR USE:
- Remove the protective cap and place the absorbent tip just below the urine stream for at least 10 seconds;
- Alternatively, collect the urine in a clean, dry container and immerse the absorbent tip in the urine for 10 seconds;
- Put the protective cap back on the scoop device and wait 5 minutes before reading the result.
INTERPRETATION OF RESULTS:
- Negativelevelsof FSH are below below the limit. This indicates that the menopausal process has probably not started yet.
- The positive FSH concentration in urine is equal to or greater than 25mIU/mL. Repeat the test after 5-7 days, as FSH levels can vary throughout the month. In case of confirmation of positivity, consult a specialist.
