The Atlas cedar is native to North Africa. In the distant past, it inhabited Europe in its natural state. It resists the cold very well and is more upright and slender than the Lebanon cedar. Its needles are bluish, its branches ascending and shorter than those of other cedars; its bark is light gray in color and cracks with age; its cones are 6 cm long, with a small hole in the center.
