Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that can be ingested with food or synthesized by the body itself through the skin and with the impact of UV rays.
Cholecalciferol is the most bioavailable form of vitamin D and that is maintained in plasma for the longest time. It is converted to calcidiol in the liver and finally to 1.25 (OH)2 D (calcitriol) in the kidneys. The CalcifaSorbTM complex based on fructooligosaccharides, L. acidophillus, phospholipids and flax and evening primrose vegetable oils, acts favorably on the absorption of vitamin D.
