At Gerber, we've spent years tirelessly researching nutrition and working with family farmers to achieve quality baby food.
Following her pediatrician's infant nutrition advice in the summer of 1927, Dorothy Gerber began mashing solid foods for her 7-month-old daughter Sally.
After repeating this process many times, Mrs. Gerber suggested that her husband try it. He watched Dan make several attempts, and then he pointed out that the job of shredding fruits and vegetables could easily be done at his Fremont, Michigan-based canning business.
Workers at the plant began ordering samples for their own babies, and thus began the legacy of Gerber® baby food.
